CAMILLERI Charlò

Charlò CAMILERI O.Carm. read History of Art, Philosophy, and Theology at the University of Malta from where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts (1997) and Sacred Theology (2000). He then specialized his studies in Pastoral Theology and graduated with a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (2002). He furthered his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome reading for a Diploma in an Interdisciplinary Course for Formators (2004) and also for a Doctorate in Sacred Theology (2007). At present, he forms part of the Department of Moral Theology at the University of Malta where his lectures specialize in Spiritual Theology, Consecrated Life, Spiritual Direction and Companionship and Gender Issues. From 2008-2018 he served as Executive Director of the Carmelite Institute Malta promoting research and study of Spirituality and Mysticism. Camilleri has also been invited many a time to deliver conferences abroad on these areas. He is still member of the Board of Directors of the same Institute and member of the Akkademja tal-Malti. He is also author of various peer-reviewed articles and books. In 2019 he was appointed as Project Editor for the publication of the multivolume critical edition of the complete works of Jean de Saint-Samson and is member of the Comité scientifique for the Colloque international Jean de Saint Samson to be held in Rennes. Rev. Dr Camilleri was appointed Research Fellow at the Bloemfontein Free State University, South Africa and is currently a member of the International Editorial Board of 'Carmel in the World' a spirituality journal for the laity. He is also enrolled with Spiritual Directors Europe. The interdisciplinary approach is highly valued by Rev. Dr Camilleri who apart from having a regular lecturing load is supervisor to several MA's and Ph.D's and post graduate students.

Charlò CAMILLERI O.Carm. si è laureato nella Storia dell'Arte, Filosofia e Teologia presso l'Università di Malta (1997) e in Sacra Teologia (2000). Si è poi specializzato in Teologia Pastorale e susseguentemente ha ottenuto la Licenza in Teologia (2002). Ha proseguito gli studi presso la Pontificia Università Gregoriana di Roma seguendo il Diploma in un Corso Interdisciplinare per Formatori (2004) perseguendo anche il Dottorato in Sacra Teologia (2007). Attualmente, fa parte del Dipartimento di Teologia Morale presso l'Università di Malta come docente di Teologia Spirituale, Vita Consacrata, Direzione Spirituale, e Spiritualità del Genero. Dal 2008 al 2018 è stato Direttore Esecutivo dell'Istituto Carmelitano di Malta promuovendo la ricerca e lo studio della Spiritualità e del Misticismo. Camilleri è stato anche più volte invitato a tenere conferenze all'estero su questi temi. È tuttora membro del Consiglio Direttivo dello stesso Istituto e membro dell'Akkademja tal-Malti. È anche autore di vari articoli e libri riveduti alla pari. Nel 2019 è stato nominato Editore per il progetto di pubblicazione dell'edizione critica in più volumi delle opere complete di Jean de Saint-Samson ed è membro del Comité scientifique per il Colloque international Jean de Saint Samson che si terrà a Rennes entro l'anno. Già nominato Research Fellow presso la Bloemfontein Free State University, Sud Africa egli è attualmente membro del Comitato Editoriale Internazionale di "Carmel in the World", una rivista di spiritualità per i laici. È anche iscritto a Spiritual Directors Europe. L'approccio interdisciplinare è molto apprezzato dal Rev. Dr. Camilleri che oltre ad avere un regolare carico di lezioni, è supervisore di studenti di master e dottorato e post-laurea.
